Have you ever been to a Santa Fe art market where you fall in love with everything you see? Well, that is how I felt today at the New Mexico Artisan Market. If you are wondering what to see in see in Santa Fe, it is a perfect event! Try and catch it next year, it is typically held in February. What is special about the Artisan Market is buying locally crafted goods and talking directly to the artists. You get to hear their story and most importantly, about the craft you are purchasing. It puts a meaning and a story to the purchase. Supporting the local artists, their business and dollars go right back into the community. I have listed below a few highlights and contacts, a look inside the artisan market.  Kei and Molly is a business with a cause that touches my heart. They create artisan quality products while providing good jobs for immigrants and refugees in their Albuquerque community. They are going to be featured in the March 2020 issue of Martha Stewart Living -- Congratulations! I bought an excellent 'Buy Local' tote bag, featured in the header photo above, 'Buy Local' oven pads, and two kitchen towels with the design that says - 'Red or Green?' and 'Grow Local.' I wished I bought the 'Save the Bees'... Their line of lotions, soaps, and salts are all organic, natural and made from locally sourced ingredients. All products are perfume free and also free from animal testing. It is a family run and native owned business. Perhaps it was her connection to nature, the detail in her Hummingbirds, or the breathtaking Aspen Trees. Well let's just say, a mug went home with me.   Have you ever seen glasswork so beautiful? The symphony of colors and reflections compliments her individualistic design. Denise Elvrum from Desert Glass Design hits all the notes with her stunning work. I had an emotional connection to her work, and perhaps it was because I later learned she had Norwegian heritage, like myself. No wonder I loved her work so much and enjoyed hearing her story.   Tammy Weinerlich is a local textile artist who has a fantastic story of her prints. The animal pillows to her side are her past and present pets, her muses. The unconditional love they give, and her love for them, is evident in her colorful, individualized Art Deco style. Her business, Collected Hands Studio, is a family business also specializing in handmade modern furniture and accessories with a nod to Art Deco and bungalow styles. It is subtle, yet show stopping at the same time. He uses Velvet Mesquite wood that he actually harvests himself from the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. The inlay is Kingman Turqoise and Peruvian Turquoise he crushes with and mixes with resin. All woodwork is functional, and has a food safe finish.   When I first viewed Barbara Burzillo's bronze sculptures, the movement captivated me. The elongated lines, the reflection of the light, and shadows talk to your soul. It is evident she works from her heart and the craft is a labor and expression of love.
